Windsurfing: Jericoacoara, Brazil Wind Direction: E Wind Stength: 20-25 knots Surf / Sea State: Flat/small swell Air Temperature: Scorchio! Sea Temperature: Scorchio! Weather: A bit cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Really quiet at work today so treated myself to a longer sail than normal,
about 1+1/2 hours instead of the usual 1. Very overcast/drizzly weather in
the morning seemed to stop the wind from coming until a bit later than
normal. When I first went out at 2.30pm it was still quite light, but by
the end it had properly filled in to the usual 20-25 knots.
Initially was underpowered on my 5.2 rigged flat (couldn´t be bothered to
let off downhaul and set it fuller), which combined with flatter than
normal water meant the conditions were not very exciting. Fortunately my
sailing made up for the relatively poor conditions, with lots of dry gybes
made successfully if still a bit wobbily, and a couple of nice tacks thrown
in as well. Again the majority of my transitions at the start of the
session were successful, on both the outside as well as the inside. I am
definitely becoming more and more confident with all my basic transitions
now. Which is nice.
Towards the end frustration with the below par conditions (although they
were by now better at the end), combined with general tiredness, meant my
sailing wasn´t quite as good as at the start with fewer gybes/tacks made.
So, not so good conditions at the start and not so good sailing performance
at the end means I can only award this session 3 stars. Sorry matey.
